It is with deep regret that we have to tell you that Jane has finally lost her brave battle against cancer and died in the morning of Tuesday 28th April.
Obviously all our thoughts are with Dave at this time, and as a mark of respect we have cancelled nets this Wednesday 29th April. The game on Sunday 3rd May against St. Jean le Thomas has also been postponed, to Sunday 10th May.
Jane's cremation will be at Lorient Crematorium on Saturday 2nd May at 1.30. If you wish, you can join the cortege which will be leaving Gautier in Josselin at 11.00am.
Dave has asked for no flowers, but a collection in Jane's name towards Cancer Research will be organised soon.
There will not be a formal gathering after the cremation.

DES ORMES v CLUB CRICKET DE L'OUST (Siddalls Cup)
Match summary:
Des Ormes: 221 for 6 from 35 overs
De l'Oust : 131 for 9 from 35 overs
DES ORMES WON BY 80 runs
Club Cricket de l'Oust kicked off their Siddalls Cup 2009 campaign with a very difficult fixture - away to Des Ormes. This was a 35 over match played in cloudy conditions. Des Ormes won the toss and decided to field.
As usuall Des Ormes fielded a very strong batting line-up and again this proved to be their strength. After their innings they had scored a very creditable 211 for 6 wickets, with all the batsmen contributing to this total, in particular S Clark (74 not out) and N Chatavedi 58 not out) and P Reynolds (18) being the mainstays of their innings.
Although de l'Oust conceded exactly 6 runs pr over, there were 3 notable performances: Tim Harrington (bowled 7 overs, 2 wickets for 19 runs); Jon Ward (bowled 3 overs for 12 runs); and Matt Powell, who took 2 wickets at a crucial time in the match.
So, this meant that de l'Oust needed 212 runs to win. This was always going to be a tall order and, with the 2 openers facing some quite hostile bowling, de l'Oust had only scored 11 runs from the first 5 overs. From then on wickets fell steadily. Although they batted out the full 35 overs, de l'Oust could only manage 131 runs for 9 wickets.
A particular mention for three batsmen: Jon Ward (20 runs), Dave Walton (25 runs), and a fine skipper's innings of 38 not out from Matt Powell.
The pick of the Des Ormes bowlers were: P Reynolds (bowled 7 overs, 2 wickets for 14 runs); N Chatavedi (bowled 6 overs, 2 wickets for 22 runs); A hughes (bowled 6 overs, 3 wickets for 13 runs).

ST JEAN LE THOMAS vs CLUB CRICKET DE L'OUST
Match Summary
Club Cricket de l'Oust 153 for 5 from 30 overs
St Jean le Thomas 51 for 8 all out from 17.4 overs
CLUB CRICKET DE L'OUST WON BY 102 RUNS
Club Cricket de l'Oust made the long trip north east to Avranches to play their first match against newly-formed St Jean le Thomas.
De l'Oust won the toss and elected to bat first on a very lumpy and bumpy pitch, which was not at all suitable for good cricket.
De l'Oust completed their 30 over innings with a very creditable score of 153 for 5 wickets. Pick of the batsmen were Dave Walton (55 not out), Matt Powell (55 not out) and Alan Cook (11 runs). The best of St Jean's bowlers was A Caverhill with 3 wickets for 27 runs from 6 overs.
When it came to St Jean's turn to bat they struggled to cope with a positive and accurate de l'Oust attack and could only manage 51 runs all out in 17.4 overs. Their top batsman was A Armishaw with 33 runs from just 25 balls.
Notable bowling performances came from Matt Powell with 2 wickets for 12 runs from 2 overs, Ian Henderson (1 for 1 from 2 overs), Kevin Williams (1 for 1 from 3 overs), and Dave Coe with 1 for 1 from 1.4 overs. Congratulations to Jon Ward who took his 50th wicket for the club during the match.
Our thanks to the members of St Jean le Thomas for their warm and friendly greeting and an excellent tea, which was enjoyed by us all.

The 'Big-Foot and the Hendersons' team took the honours at the quiz last night - though the name is perhaps a little unfair on Tariq. But then again....... Congrats to Ian, Maura and Tariq.
Obviously the Belgium training has paid off, as quite a few teams knew the colours of their flag, but no-one knew the name of the milkman in Camberwick Green (it was Thomas Tripp, NOT Ernie, as one team answered).
Thanks to the F1 Williams team (especially Sophie) and Matt for their help, and La Duchesse Anne for their hospitality. See you all on April 11th!

Chris Evers' 'Grey Matter' team took the honours at the quiz last Saturday night, proving yet again that youth isn't everything. This seems to be a recurring theme at CCdl'O.
Nine teams battled it out in the end, and apart from an unerring failure to place Belgium corrrectly, or to identify Tiny Tim as the ukelele-player buried with 9 purple silk tulips, or even to identify Enid Blyton as the author with 59 books published in1955, a good time seems to have been had by all.
A big thank you to Trudie, Kev, Dave Coe, Sophie, Alan and Rae for all their support.
Here's to the next one - in March. WATCH THIS SPACE

Jack Thompson 1948-2008
We are sorry to report the death of Jack Thompson on 15th October following a very brief illness. Jack was one of the founder members of the Club and will always be remembered for his good humour and love of life - not to mention his insistence on playing cricket in his brown boots! Our thoughts at this sad time are with Jack's wife Maree, their daughters Rachel and Charlotte, and all members of Jack and Maree's family
